Maria Huhmarniemi: Vuori / A Mountain

Huhmarniemi's installation consists of plates gathered in a form of a mountain that leans on the wall of the gallery. The mountain represents the experience of hiking in the Austrian Alps. Mountains are huge natural elements, but not free from human impact. Cattle eat grass in the meadows and landscape stays open because of them; some lakes are artificial and built for the need of the water power, and glacier is vanishing constantly because of the climate change.
