The work is part of a whole that was completed for the Ars-Häme
summer exhibition We were not alone.
The theme of the Finnish Civil War made me reflect
on the nature of hatred and violence and its counterparts.
Each of us can, under the right circumstances, succumb to hatred,
violence, and the misuse of power.
Each of us also has the capacity for compassion, nonviolence, and
responsible power. It is a question of choices. The images that emerge
from this dynamic between two opposing attitudes remind me of the
importance of even small choices.
