Bio    Artist’s Statement 

Chilhood in Brussels. Youth in the French speaking area of Belgium.
Studied forestry in the Ardennes, biology and geography. Interest in cultural anthropology. Travels in the seventies around Europe and starts to be interested by photography and cinema. Documentary project in Lapland in 1981. Moves to Finland in 1983 where has been living as a teacher in visual communication and art. First time in an exhibition in 1988. Own exhibitions from 1989.
Master of Arts in 1993 (Aalto Univ.), Doctor of Philosophy in 2008 (Univ. of Jyväskylä).
In addition of several experimental films and videos the most principal theme exhibitions are: L'âme et le Néant (1989), L'être et le Béant (1992), KUD (1992), Nihilum (1994), KUD2 (1995), Sweet Seasons Blues (1998), KUD3 (1999) and KUD4 (2010).
KUD-project is a temporal concept which started with Finnish musicians after 1987 and which continues through exhibitions until today.
