Bio    Artist’s Statement 

Sculptor and visual artist Arja Maarit Puhakka is born in Helsinki in 1957. She lives in Parainen, in the archipelago region of Finland where she also has her atelier.

Puhakka has participated several group exhibitions and has also had solo exhibitions in major Finnish cities since 1995. Some of her works have been presented outside of Finland in Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Japan, Peru and Russia. Puhakka has works in the collections of cities Brammingen, (Denmark) Iquitos (Peru), Lübbenau (Germany), Kankaapää, Loimaa, Parainen and Pälkäne in Finland. She has studied art in Kankaanpää art school, Finland, and art academies of Tallinn (Estonia), Prague (Czech republic) and Turku (Finland). She has a Bachelors degree in Art history and is a member of Finnish Sculptors association and Turku Artists Association.
