For Tapio Lötjönen, living in Helsinki, are both music and painting, the enjoyment and making of them, seems to be source of great pleasure and sustainability. Lötjönen, a former clarinetist in symphony orchestras and chamber ensembles, find ideas and inspirations for his painting in jazz, among other things. For him playfulness, at times even a boyish mischief, seems to be in the forefront in both art forms.- Is this where the twirling and jagged lines and bouncing spots in his paintings come from? Are they the counterparts of melodic and rhytmical improvisation?
