Artist’s Statement

My work deals with visual obsevations, connections between things in life, ethics and eternity. I use wide range of techniques, installations, photography, moving image and site specific work. Glass, light, shadow and reflections are building blocks of my work. Spaces, animals and surfaces that separate us are important elements as well.

Bio

Anne Tamminen (b. 73 in Hämeenlinna) has worked as a visual artist since 1997, when she graduated from Imatra Art School. After that she has studied in Tampere School of Art and Communication (BA) and in the Academy of Fine Arts, Helsinki where she did her Masters. From the beginning she has been interested in photography, mixed media and experimenting. She also has always had a great interest to art politics and working to improve the situation of the living artists. Among her artistic work she works as a freelancer and teaches photography and printmaking. Her work has been exhibited in several museums and galleries around Finland and abroad. Her works are included in the collections such as The Collection of Kiasma, Museum of Contemporary Art, Finland and The State Collection of Finland. She lives and works in Hämeenlinna, Finland.
