Artist’s Statement

I am a Visual Artist working in drawing and sculpture. As an artist I connect feelings with fantasy.

As a painter I paint with colour-pencils. Colour-pencils are for me the palette and brash. My paintings are intertextual collages formed out of persons and fragments borrowed from art history. Art history is my inspirator and model. In that way I weave my inner feelings into art.

I work always within a thema: e.g. my integration process as a Dutchman into the Finnish society, the climate change and other current issues.

In my sculptures of clay the human face is my sourse of inspiration. I freely model portraits with strong emotional expression. I have called them "Echos out of My Inner Gallery", "Ballads" and "Closeups".
