Artist’s Statement
The main thrust of Petra Kaminen Mosher's work is the abstraction of natural forms: landscape and the flora and fauna within it, and the human figure. Through the primary medium of oil paint on canvas, she deconstructs the images into elemental colors, shapes and values making way for a landscape or portrait with new color and value relationships which are best described as lyrical abstraction. She has been referred to as a colorist and neo-traditionalist.
