Artist’s Statement

Art has been with me since I was a child. I grew into an artist as I grew up. Every time I start a new job, I also start a new world. It is such a fascinating idea that it carries through a wide variety of life situations and creates meaning for doing things.

Animals, plants and children often appear in my works. Color seasons vary, but as a rule my color palette is fresh and rich.

The basis of my artistic work is observing the everyday environment. In my works, small experiences and images of a fleeting moment become part of something larger and thus acquire deeper meanings when they meet the viewer. It is important for me to work in the field of art freely, diversely and looking for something new. I'm not locked into only one technique, but I combine different types of activities. The idea chooses the material. This working ideology has enabled me to be creative with different forms of art collaboration over the years.

Bio

I graduated from the Art Institute of Lahti University of Applied Sciences as a visual artist in 2009, and before that as a visual artist from art school Alfa in 2006, as an Art Educator (FM) from the University of Jyväskylä, and as an art teacher from Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences. I have worked as a visual artist in a variety of ways right from my graduation, and I am also an active member of the Jyväskylä Artists' Association. I have had numerous solo exhibitions and have participated in dozens of joint and group exhibitions both in Finland and abroad (e.g. in the Czech Republic, Portugal and Russia).

My works are in the collections of the city of Jyväskylä, the city of Äänekoski, the hospital district of Central Finland and the University of Jyväskylä.

My main technique is painting, but I am a multi-artist. Installations, textile art, collages and recycled art are an integral part of my work, and video and digital art have also become familiar through various projects.

I also do cross-art cooperation and community art. I have been e.g. In the Suomi100 concert series as a live illustrator with the Children's Orchestra Loiskis, as well as in the public art Kehä Vihreä project and the Well-being residential areas project as a community artist. I do visual arts guidance work with people of different ages almost every day.
